Date Books Agendas, Birthday Books, Book of Days, Calendars, Dates to Remembers, Desk Diaries, Month at a Glance, Planners, Undated Day Books.
The very name or title of this type of book can influence your sales, diaries, agendas, appointment books, all indicate that there is a date and day of week shown. This means that your sales potential is limited from about August of the year produced through January for the calendar year for which they are made.
However, the same book omitting the day of the week can be sold until they are all gone. Suitable titles such as: Any Year Diary, Anniversaries and Special Days, Birthday Book, Book of Days, Dates to Remember, Month at a Glance, and Weekly Planner, are just different names for basically the same product, all sell well.
One should know that in the months prior to the new year you will be also asked for the next years dated books. You will find that there is a loyal following who will be waiting for the new calendar or desk diary to appear every year.
All the variations that can all go into producing any of these types of books is nearly endless and so we are not going to try to list them here but we urge you to list the special things you would like in your book and to call us preferably 15-18 month prior to the year you would like to date the book.
Below are a few examples.
Columbus Museum of Art Book of Days
Both of these books show the date without the day, so they are perfect for use in any year as an appointment book, journal or birthday and anniversary reminder.
The Columbus Museum of Arts book has more than twenty of its wonderful paintings shown throughout the book.
The Floral Book of Days also has more than 20 paintings of Dutch and Flemish paintings held in six U.S. Museums.

Renoir's Children A Birthday Book
A whole book full of Renoir's paintings of children. What is more amazing is that all these paintings are part of the Barnes Foundation's collection. The design is such that each 7 day period is on a page and the remaining days of the month are on a page with space for monthly reminders. A truly lovely book with end-papers decorated with Heads of Girls, (a Renoir study) it also has a ribbon marker. It was decided to offer two cover versions, but the inside is the same for both. Feline Faces Birthday Book
The ultimate Birthday Book for cat lovers. Twenty-two different cats with their portraits and the show standards for the breed. This birthday book has ample space to remember the birthdays of several people should they even fall on the same date. We have been told that some people include their pets birthdays, assuming a cat has 7 lives it must have 7 birthdays.
Illustrated with dozens of pieces of Victorian ephemera, this is a charming book of a bygone era. Every page is has colorful examples of the printed scraps collected by European children for doing well at their school tasks. It makes a particularly good gift for a grandma to keep track of the birthdays and special events in her family's life.
The book is 6.5" x 5" and comes with a ribbon page marker.
Produced some years ago for The Walters Art Gallery this is a Month at a Glance planner. Each month is shown on it page with space to write a brief note for each day. For those that wished to use the book as a calendar for a specific year and to add the day of the week, a place was indicated. The illustrations were of Chinese paintings from the second half of the 19th century. The delicate work shows the artists had the confidence to develop and modernize the venerable traditions of Chinese painting.
This award winning album had been designed to provide a monthly record of birthdays etc. KHP was already involved with conservation and recycling years before it became in vogue and added the following statement inside the book.
When you have completed your use of this book in its present form, you may remove the calendar pages, leaving an album of lasting interest. The image pages have also been perforated so that each painting may be framed if you so desire. Click for inside view.
Going through our archives and finding this
book has led to discussions of repeating this type of award winning
project. We therefore invite our museum colleagues to consider what
images in their collections would be suitable your version of this type
of book.
