How To Get Started With Custom Publishing & Product Development
The design team at KHP Museum & Custom Publishing will be happy to discuss your particular needs.
The important thing to remember is that we start with a blank paper and end with
a product that is totally unique to you.
Nothing sells better than YOUR name.
The process starts with us asking you questions, including:
What is it that you wish to achieve with the product?
What is the profile of the people ultimately using the item?
Have you a particular item or design for it in mind?
Do you have a specific time requirement?
How many units do you need for this project?
Do you have a unit retail selling price in mind?
Have you your own art work to use?
At this stage we discuss the specifics of your project together with a
request for some images and general information relevant to the
project. We will consider all the information we have and will make a
general proposal of what items and how they should be presented,
together with one or more concept layouts so that you can visualize
your own product in a three dimensional form. In many cases, where a
director or committee has to give approval of the project, this concept
piece greatly assists in obtaining the required approval. The concept
may be photographed for advance PR or marketing. In some cases the
concept is used to generate underwriting or other financial funding.
Once
final official approval of the project has been given, we provide a
simple contract that states the quantities and financial commitments
and anticipated delivery. The copyright of any artwork supplied by you
remains with you and artwork will not be used in any other form. We
also try to print only the number of units you have contracted to
purchase and you will not find your work in the local Mall outlet.
You
see and approve all steps in the development stages and are given final
color match prints so that you will see the final color of the
artwork as it will be when printed.
Generally we do not wholesale or
distribute your product. However we do all we can to generate sales for
you by including your work on our web site, showing it at national
trade shows and passing on any leads to you. We can also assist you in
marketing suggestions and sales aids.
Terms
Our
terms are flexible, but as with all custom projects a small Concept Fee
is required prior to commencing design work. This Concept Fee is
fully credited to your project cost when you go forward with the
project. For your convenience a payment of one third is made on signing
the contract. A second third is made when the design is approved and
printing is scheduled. The balance is paid within 30 days of shipment
to you.
A Concept Fee Agreement will be sent to you if you so request, after our initial consultation.
Credit cards may be used for the concept and/or first payment.
