One of the foremost Fashion Houses in the Baltimore-Washington region is Vasarri. Its president, Gail Kandell, is deeply committed to not only her business but to a number of charities. She decided that she could help a group of deserving charities by mixing her love for fashion and good food with a collection of unique recipes, as she says, seasoned with flavor, flair and fashion.

Gail, understands quality and we at KHP were very happy to assist her in producing a very special recipe book. The spiral bound hard-cover book has laminated pages beautifully illustrating and dividing the segments for all the parts that comprise a dinner. Plus she added kitchen hints and even an area for making cookies for a favorite pooch. For the final segment, she persuaded the chefs of some of the finest restaurants from Hong Kong to New York City to share their special recipes. It's the book Hyacinth Bucket has dreamed of for her candle lit suppers. Designed for The Margerie Merryweather Post estate, now the Hillwood Museum in Washington, D.C., the book is filled with wonderful works of art from the house and many pictures of the house and grounds. Yet it is the detail that this book goes into that is exceptional. Opening the book by taking it out of the slip case presents a lavish table setting as the end-papers. Opening the individual party pages, it details the occasion and planning. Yes a guest seating and table plan, the menu, the wines but even what music and flowers were used and more. For sure a reminder what earings the hostess wore. Plus there are so very practical listings of wines and recipe resources (to tell chef) but also the private number of the plumber if an emergency should occur on the special day. It ends with a recap of expenses (for the tax-man) and even who slurped his soup and may not be invited for the another dinner.
